Ethel Gertrude Bullard Heitmann

Ethel Gertrude Bullard Heitmann, 98, died Thursday, February 12, 2015, in Raleigh, NC. Mrs. Heitmann was born in Ware County, Georgia on December 13, 1916. She lived most of her life in Savannah with her late husband, John A. Heitmann, Sr. She was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Ascension and was a life member and officer of The International Order of the King’s Daughters and Sons. She was also a member of The German Country Club, and a lifetime member of Weight Watchers and the Kwana Loma Dance Club.
Mrs. Heitmann is survived by her son, Dr. John A. Heitmann and his wife, Joy McGee Heitmann, of Raleigh, NC; her grandchildren, Mrs. Joy Syring and her husband, George R. Syring, of Lexington Park, MD, Ms. Kathryn Heitmann of Raleigh, NC, and Mr. Joseph Cafiero of Athens, GA; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 17, 2015, at the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Ascension, 120 Bull Street. Prior to the service the family will receive friends, from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., in Crumley Hall.
The interment will follow in Bonaventure Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests remembrances be made to the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Ascension, 6 East State St., Savannah, GA 31401.
